Brazilian model Larissa responded to the news on social media.
Synopsis: The Brazilian model, whose photo was allegedly used in Haryana’s voter list, said on social media that she was unaware of it. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi hosted a press conference and said that the model’s photo was identified as being used 22 times across 10 different booths.
The Brazilian model, whose photo was allegedly used in Haryana’s electoral roll, said on social media on Wednesday, 5 November, that she was unaware of it. On Wednesday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi hosted a press conference and said, using Election Commission of India (ECI) data, that there were around 25 lakh fake voters in the Haryana electoral rolls.
Among the highlighted cases of multiple voters with the same photograph, the model’s photo was identified as being used 22 times across 10 different booths.
The model, identified as Larissa, later took to social media and said she came to know about the issue after journalists from India contacted her.
In a video which has gone viral now, Larissa was seen expressing shock and disbelief.
Describing the issue as gossip, she said in Portuguese that the photo dated back several years, to when she was about 18-20 years old and a model.
She said some people were trying to portray her as an Indian to scam others. “What madness! What craziness is this? What world do we live in?” she asked.
Larissa further said reporters from India tried contacting her, wanting to know about her, her job and other things. However, she said, she did not want to speak and asked her workplace not to share her contact information.
She further said someone tried calling her via Instagram as well. Larissa said she received the photo of Rahul Gandhi’s press conference from a friend.
In the press conference, Rahul Gandhi had said that the woman’s photo was used multiple times in the voters’ list with several names, including Seema, Sweety, Saraswati, etc.
Showing the image of the woman, he said, “This woman, whose photo appears on the voter list, voted 22 times in 10 different booths using multiple names in the Rai Assembly constituency. Someone added her to the voter list centrally, just like in Aland and Mahadevapura.”
“But here’s the shocking part: she’s a Brazilian model. She is one among 25 lakh fake voters in Haryana’s voter list,” he added and displayed a QR code linking to the model’s social media page.
“What is a Brazilian woman doing in Haryana’s electoral rolls? There is no logic or reason — this is vote theft on a massive scale. We have identified 25 lakh fake entries in Haryana, across five categories,” Rahul Gandhi said.
