By-elections to 38 wards of various local bodies across Keralam, including the Kallara ward of the Thiruvananthapuram district panchayat, will be held on September 28.
State Election Commissioner N Seshadrinathan announced the election schedule on Tuesday.
The notification for the by-elections will be issued on September 3.
Candidates can file their nominations from September 3 to September 10.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on September 11, while September 14 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature.
Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm on September 28.
Counting of votes will begin at 10 am on September 29.
The Model Code of Conduct came into effect on September 1.
In the case of district and block panchayat constituencies, the code will be applicable to all wards of the gram panchayats falling within the respective constituencies.
For grama panchayat by-elections, the code will apply to the entire panchayat area, while in municipalities it will be applicable to the respective wards.
The by-elections will be conducted on the basis of the revised voters’ list published on August 19.
The voters’ list is available at the respective local bodies, village and taluk offices, as well as on the Kerala State Election Commission website.
All election procedures are to be completed by October 1.
Candidates must submit their statements of election expenditure by October 29.
By-elections will be held in 12 districts, excluding Kollam and Alappuzha.
The vacancies include two corporation wards in Ernakulam and Kozhikode, three municipality wards in Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur, three district panchayat wards in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Palakkad, seven block panchayat wards and 23 gram panchayat wards.
