Karnataka minister submits memorandum to PM Modi. (X)
Synopsis: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was received on behalf of the state government by Health and District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, on Friday, 28 November, submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while receiving him in Mangaluru, urging the Union Government to intervene immediately and resolve issues related to Minimum Support Price (MSP), ethanol allocation, restrictions on import of maize, and relaxation of quality norms for green gram procurement amidst protest by maize growers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was received on behalf of the state government by Health and District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
The prime minister then held a roadshow in Udupi. He is scheduled to visit Udupi’s Sri Krishna Math and participate in the “Laksha Geeta Pathana”, a mass recitation in which more than one lakh devotees will chant verses from the Bhagavad Gita.
Sharing the memorandum, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote on X, “Farmers growing maize and green gram in Karnataka are facing severe distress due to a sharp drop in market prices. I had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the Union Government to intervene immediately, rectify issues related to MSP and ethanol quota allocation, and ensure that our farmers receive a fair price for their produce.”
“Today, when the Prime Minister arrived at the Mangaluru airport en route to Udupi, our district in-charge minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, welcomed him and handed over our memorandum. I hope the Prime Minister will swiftly recognise the hardship faced by our farmers and take the necessary steps to resolve the issues confronting them.”
