‘Yatra 2’ teaser guarantees a story of promises, commitment, and triumph

Malayalam Superstar Mammootty on Friday, 5 January, dropped the teaser of the much-awaited political drama Yatra 2. On his Twitter handle, the actor termed the film a story of promises, commitment, and triumph.

Yatra 2 is directed by Mahi V Raghav and jointly produced by Three Atom Leaves, V Celluloid, and Shiva Meka.

Mammootty is playing the role of the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, while Kollywood star Jiiva is playing the role of the current CM of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The shooting of Yatra 2 is progressing at a brisk pace and preparations are in full swing for its grand worldwide release on 8 February.

Yatra 2 is story of YS Jagan

Going by the looks of the teaser, the story delves into the reasons why YS Jagan (played by Jiiva) entered politics and the events leading to the YSR’s untimely death.

Yatra 2 teaser opens with a heart-touching scene between Jagan and staunch followers holding YSR’s portrait on a deserted road.

On the same occasion, an attempt was made to portray the obstacles created by political opponents during their condolence trip to console people after the loss of a true leader and fatherly figure.

Yatra 2 explores how Jagan overcame these obstacles and evolved into an unstoppable public leader.

Director Mahi is crafting the film based on political events that took place in Andhra Pradesh from the period 2009 to 2019.

Bollywood actor Mahesh Manjrekar played the character of TDP founder Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Suzanne Bernert took on the role of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Ketaki Narayanan played the character of YS Bharati in the film.

Yatra (2019) was based on YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s Padayatra. Now, its sequel — Yatra 2 is set to entertain audiences as a sequel to this popular film.

The upcoming political drama is slated for release on the same date (8 February) when the first part was released five years ago.

Madhi is the cinematographer and Santhosh Narayanan is the music director.
