Triple Riding review: An out-and-out silly movie that is fit only for timepass

It's the return of yet another done-to-death commercial formula of a hero romancing three heroines, and who finally marries whom in the end.

The posters of Triple Riding shout out loud and clear as to what the audience can expect from this film which has Ganesh riding in the front seat!

It certainly needs no brain to guess the outcome of a caper involving a male protagonist and his escapades with not one, but three pretty heroines.

However, the experience, which was intended to be a fun-filled joyride, turns into an out-and-out silly venture in the end.

Let’s go on a ride, or “triple” ride, to make some sense of this senseless comedy.

Shabby writing & dated comedy

Firstly, the writing is too shabby. It offers nothing new and banks upon age-old comedy gimmicks.

The only change in Triple Riding is that it is quite the opposite of most such comedies in the past. Here, the female protagonists are depicted with the upper hand over the usual suspect on the big screen.

As it is a 100 percent commercial comedy masala, logic, quite rightfully, plays no part in the film: For example, the protagonist easily gains entry into a hospital as a doctor, with literally no degree in medicine.

A few may laugh at a doctor treating patients with the help of an Internet search through Google! But many would not.

There are loads of such examples which we will leave to those who are up with some time to pass or to the diehard fans of actor Ganesh who is fondly referred to as Golden Star in the industry.

Run-of-the-mill commercial formula

The first half is packed with two love stories; the third and decisive one is in the second part.

All three female leads have a wealthy background. The first is the daughter of a sitting MLA, the second one is the daughter of a powerful builder, and the third one’s father owns a tea estate.

In between, the hero is a versatile talent, and his father is a lawyer.

Forgot to mention the names of the characters of the three female protagonists — all are named after popular Kannada actresses: Rakshitha, Ramya, and Radhika.

That’s not all, there is a Rashmika, too, but only for a brief period.

The director has cast every possible popular comedian in the film so as to leave no stone unturned. But the screenplay has nothing to offer for them to showcase their skills.

Sadhu Kokila, Rangayana Raghu, Ravishankar, Ravishankar Gowda, and Kuri Pratap all portray their usual selves —with no great effect. The rib does not tickle even a wee bit.

In addition, there are mandatory fights and songs, one with each heroine, and another with all four in one.

Also, there’s a peppy dance number to which the fans can get out of their seats to the front in theatres to shake a leg or two to show their love for the star actor.

But then, in the end, it turns out to be another comedy that makes the audience laugh at it rather than laugh one’s heart out while watching it!
