She was chosen by the talent hunt of a leading Kannada television network, which then forwarded her contact to television serial director Arooru Jagadish. Th rest is history.

And now, She made her silver screen debut with Shiva Tejass’ Dil Pasand this Friday, 11 November.

“I can only say that I am eternally blessed and grateful for the opportunities which came knocking on my doors. I have no connection whatsoever with the television or industry nor was I planning to get into it”, Megha Shetty told South First.

“I was doing my MBA and the television studio which recognised me through social media and it forwarded my name to the director, who cast me in ‘Jothe Jotheyali’”, she recalled.

“I only knew basic expressions which are required for social media usage. I had no formal lessons in acting in front of a camera”, the 24-year-old quipped.

She learnt everything on the job with great support from the entire team including Arooru and the whole cast and crew of the serial.

“Their faith in me made me excel. Most importantly, it was the love and affection of the audience without whom I couldn’t have reached this level.”

Big screen debut

Regarding her silver screen debut, Megha Shetty has two back-to-back releases: Dil Pasand opposite Darling Krishna and Triple Riding alongside Golden Star Ganesh.

“Though Tripe Riding is the first movie I signed, Dil Pasand marked my debut. In the film, my character has two shades: a typical traditional girl turns into a full-on modern due to Western influence. In Tribble Riding, I am playing a doctor”, she informed.

Despite her busy shooting schedule, Megha is still working for the Kannada soap.

“I’m juggling television and films only because of the support from the makers of respective projects. Sometimes, I work a straight 14-16 hours without any break. I am realising my dreams only because of my family. They are my greatest strength,” she is all smiles.
