Jr NTR’s upcoming collaboration with director Prashanth Neel, tentatively titled NTRNeel, has generated significant excitement across the Indian film industry. The project was officially launched on 9 August, with the main cast and crew in attendance.
Mythri Movie Makers, which is bankrolling the flick, announced that NTRNeel will be released worldwide on 9 January 2026, aligning with the Sankranthi festival.
The pre-production of NTRNeel has been ongoing for several months, and the project is expected to be a high-energy commercial entertainer.
The full-scale shooting is said to begin in September 2024. Due to Jr NTR’s ongoing work on Devara, his participation will start slightly later. The official cast, crew, and shooting details will be revealed on the film’s launch day.
Given the scale and hype of NTRNeel, the Telugu film stands to gain significantly from the holiday excitement, assuming production wraps up on schedule. However, immediate production is unlikely, as both Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel have existing commitments to fulfil before they can begin work on the project.
Announced a couple of years ago, Jr NTR and director Prashanth Neel’s film was delayed in 2022 due to their prior commitments.
Given the high expectations surrounding the project, Prashanth Neel is believed to present Jr NTR in a new light. Although the film’s title has not been officially announced, it is rumoured to be named Dragon.

According to Hindustan Times, Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran were set to begin filming Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam in June, with the first 15-day schedule planned for the second half of the month.
This announcement has led to speculation among Prabhas’s fans about whether Prashanth will manage to balance the filming of Salaar and his project with Jr NTR.
In his candid interview, Prashanth Neel discussed the “burden” of being a sought-after filmmaker tasked with creating large-scale films. He described himself as a “bad father, bad son, bad husband, bad brother, and a horrible friend”. He also acknowledged that he sacrificed much of his personal life for his cinematic pursuits.
Meanwhile, Jr NTR is currently immersed in the production of Devara: Part 1, which has been in development for over a year and faced multiple delays.
Directed by Koratala Siva, this most-anticipated film, featuring Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, and Janhvi Kapoor, is set to be a visual spectacle. Most of the shooting is taking place at sea.
On the other hand, Prashanth Neel is expected to begin filming Salaar 2 with Prabhas. Following the success of Salaar: Part 1-The Ceasefire (2023) the sequel is anticipated to be completed and released promptly.
Only after wrapping up Salaar 2 will the director be able to start work on his film with Jr NTR.
