'Kalki 2898 AD' tops IMDb's list of most popular Indian movies of 2024. (X)
The recently released blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas, has topped IMDb’s list of Most Popular Indian Movies 2024.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the epic science-fiction film—the first instalment in the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe—is set in a post-apocalyptic world in 2898 AD. It follows a select group on a mission to save the unborn child of lab subject SUM-80, named Kalki.
Director Nag Ashwin said, “We are honoured and delighted to be featured on the IMDb list. It reflects the global love from our audience and motivates us to continue pushing boundaries.”
Kalki 2898 AD has one more day of uninterrupted box office run in India before facing competition from Deadpool and Wolverine starting 26 July. After 28 days, the film has grossed ₹622.10 crore in India, with approximately ₹280 crore from the Hindi version alone, according to Sacnilk.
The sci-fi drama experienced a significant drop in its fourth week, as expected. The real challenge now is the release of the Marvel blockbuster, which could mark the end of Kalki 2898 AD’s run as it nears the end of its theatrical journey.
Anything beyond its fifth Sunday will be considered a bonus. The film is projected to conclude with around ₹650–670 crore in India and ₹1008 crore globally.
‘Tis the season of lists, and we’re back with the ultimate one! 🌟
