Lucky Baskhar gets new release date - 7 September

Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Telugu film, Lucky Baskhar, is all set to hit the theatres on 7 September. Besides Telugu, the heist drama will also be released in Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.

The Dulquer-starrer was initially slated for a July release. However, it was deferred to 27 September for technical reasons. But now, the makers of Lucky Baskhar preponed the release date to 7 September. The film will hit the screens worldwide on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaviti.

While announcing the new release date, the makers also unveiled a new poster of Lucky Baskhar. In the poster, Dulquer Salmaan looks impressive in a light-green patterned button-up shirt tucked in dark trousers with sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

Lucky Baskhar is a period drama that revolves around the life of a bank cashier from the late 1980s and early 1990s. It is Dulquer Salmaan’s third film in Telugu after the super hits Mahanati (2018) and Sita Ramam (2022).

Given the Malayalam actor’s successful portrayal in two previous period films, Lucky Baskhar is drawing huge expectations. Vaathi (2023)-fame Venky Atluri wielded the megaphone for the flick. It features Meenakshi Chaudhary as the leading lady.

The team recently wrapped up the shooting. The makers recreated the 80’s Bombay in Hyderabad via lavish sets. The art department also constructed a bank similar to that of the banks in the yesteryears.

Dulquer impresses in teaser

The first-look poster of Lucky Baskhar featured Dulquer Salmaan peeking through ₹100 notes with only his smile visible.

The teaser introduced the Malayalam actor as a middle-class banker tired of his monotonous life, describing him as a “common, middle-class, Indian man”. It took an intriguing turn by revealing Dulquer’s character with a substantial amount of money. How Baskhar becomes lucky remains to be seen.

Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya, who produced Lucky Baskhar under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, are planning a pan-India release for the flick.

The technical crew includes music director GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer Nimish Ravi, and editor Navin Nooli.

Dulquer Salmaan’s most recent theatrical release was the gangster drama, King of Kotha (2023), a flop. He played the protagonist in the Hindi web series Guns & Gulaabs (2023), directed by Raj & DK.

The actor did a cameo in the latest blockbuster hit, Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani.

Apart from this, he is co-producing Kaantha alongside Telugu actor Rana Daggubati.
