Actor Silambarasan TR, who is playing a key role in Kamal Haasan’s most-awaited Thug Life, has started the dubbing work. The actor shared this news on his Instagram handle.
In his Instagram story, Silambarasan posted a picture of him dubbing his lines for Thug Life in a recording studio.
A gangster drama, Thug Life brings together Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after 36 years. They last collaborated for Naayakan (1987)—also an iconic gangster film.
Thug Life was announced in 2023. It is produced jointly by Red Giant Movies, Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Film International, and Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies.
Kamal Haasan plays the role of Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar in the movie. A title announcement video showcased him in an action-packed role. The film also stars Trisha, Nassar, and Abhirami in crucial roles. AR Rahman is composing the music and background score for Thug Life.
Thug Life has cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and music by AR Rahman. The editing is by Sreekar Prasad and the action choreography is by Anbariv.
Silambarasan replaced Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan in the film. Dulquer quit the venture due to date clashes. Similarly, Jayam Ravi was supposed to play an extended cameo in the flick. Nevertheless, he was replaced by Ashok Selvan due to date issues.
The shooting of Thug Life is nearing completion. The crew is planning to wrap up the film by August and release it this year. While 75 percent of the film is already finished, the rest will be shot in Russia.
Meanwhile, Silambarasan was last seen in Obeli N Krishna’s Pathu Thala (2023). The neo-noir political-gangster action thriller was a box-office hit. It also starred Gautham Karthik, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Santhosh Prathap in the main roles.
Studio Green produced it, with music by AR Rahman. Pathu Thala was an official remake of the Kannada film Mufti (2017).
Silambarasan will next be seen in his 48th film, written and directed by Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (2020) director Desingh Periyasamy. Interestingly, Raaj Kamal Films International is backing this project.
On the other hand, reports say Malayalam director Jude Anthany Joseph will likely team up with Silambarasan for a bilingual. The film is expected to be produced by AGS Entertainment or Dil Raju. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
