Mohanlal’s ‘Thudarum’ to release in Tamil as ‘Todarum’ on 9 May

Thudarum to release in Tamil as Todarum

Mohanlal and Shobana’s Malayalam film Thudarum, which has garnered a positive talk, is now set to release in Tamil, with the title Thodarum. 

Directed by Tharun Moorthy, a family drama, the film had collected over ₹100 crore according to the makers.

Sharing the news of Tamil release, the lead actor wrote on X: “Thodarum releases on May 9, all across Tamil Nadu!”

Thudarum also marked the reunion of Mohanlal and Shobana after 15 years. Earlier, the duo was seen together in the 2009 film Sagar Alias Jacky. The film also features Farhaan Faasil, Mathew Thomas, and veteran actors like Maniyanpilla Raju and Bharathiraja, in key roles.

Some of Shobana-Mohanlal’s hit films include Pakshe (1994), Minnaram (1994), Manichithrathazhu (1994), and Thenmavin Kombathu (1994).

Director Tharun Moorthy’s film Saudi Vellakka received the National Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.

M Renjith of Rejaputhra Visual Media bankrolled Thudarum. Tharun Moorthy and KR Sunil wrote it. Nishad Yusuf edited it, and Vishnu Govind was the sound designer.

Jakes Bejoy composed the music. He teamed up with Tharun Moorthy earlier for Operation Java (2021).

Thudarum‘s synopsis on IMDb reads: In the quiet hill town of Ranni, humble taxi driver Shanmughan treasures one thing above all – his aging Ambassador car. When fate puts him to the test, he must prove just how far he’ll go for what he holds dear.

Meanwhile, Tharun Moorthy has announced his next project Torpedo  starring Fahadh Faasil, Naslen, and Arjun Das.

Torpedo is penned by actor Binu Pappu. On the technical front, Jimshi Khalid handles cinematography, while Sushin Shyam composes the music and Vivek Harshan takes on editing duties. Sound design is by Vishnu Govind, with Gokul Das leading art direction. Costume design is managed by Mashar Hamsa, and action sequences are choreographed by Supreme Sundar.
