Veteran actor Kamal Haasan and legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam have teamed up after 35 years for Thug Life. In 1989, they both came together for their cult gangster drama Nayakan.
Thug Life has an ensemble cast, including Trisha, Dulquer Salmaan, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautam Karthik, and Joju George.
According to reports, Jayam Ravi will play an extended role in the movie. The Siren actor is in Serbia now to take part in the shooting. However, there is no official confirmation from the makers yet.
The poster of Thug Life created a buzz of excitement and was widely circulated on social media.
In the title video, the name of Kamal Haasan’s character was revealed as “Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker”. Interestingly, Sakthivel Naicker was the name of Kamal’s character in Nayakan (1987), an epic crime drama directed by Mani Ratnam.
Thug Life is jointly produced by Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, R Mahendran and Siva Ananth under their banners Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. It will be presented by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies.
AR Rahman will compose the music of Thug Life, and this is the first time the three legends are coming together for a project.
Rahman earlier worked with Kamal Hassan for Thenali (2000). He has been collaborating with Mani Ratnam for a long time.
