Renowned art director Milan passes away in Azerbaijan

Sources close to Milan said that he complained of uneasiness and chest pain at the hotel. He died while being rushed to a hospital.

One of Tamil cinema’s well-known art directors Milan, who went to Azerbaijan for the shooting of director Magizh Thirumeni’s upcoming film with actor Ajith Kumar — Vidaa Muyarchi, passed away on Sunday, 16 October.

He was 54.

Sources close to the art director said that he complained of uneasiness and chest pain at the hotel and passed away while being rushed to a hospital.

Sources added that director Magizh Thirumeni, actor Ajith Kumar, and cinematographer Nirav Shah too rushed to the hospital.

Milan, who teamed up with Ajith in Billa (2007), Aegan (2008), Veeram (2014), Vedalam (2015) and Vivegam (2017), worked in over 30 films.

Interestingly, he was also the art director for Suriya’s much-awaited action entertainer Kanguva.

Milan’s son, who is also in Azerbaijan along with the unit of Vidaa Muyarchi, is working with Indian Embassy officials there to bring the body of the late art director back to Chennai.

Condolences pour in

Several professionals from the film industry and top production houses have expressed their condolences to the near and dear ones of the gifted art director.

Lyca Productions, one of the top production houses in the Tamil film industry, took to platform X to express its sympathies to the family members of Milan.

It wrote, “Our sincere & deepest condolences to our Art Director @MilanFern30. May his soul Rest In Peace. Our prayers are with his family & beloved ones.”

Prince Pictures, another top production house, expressed its condolences.

It wrote, “A big loss for his family, friends and our industry. We are disheartened to hear about the loss of our beloved art director #Milan bro. May God bless your soul to rest in peace.”
