The Tamil Nadu government, which had granted special permission to the makers of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-awaited film Leo, to screen one additional show apart from the regular four shows on six days has now clarified that the first show of the film must be screened only at 9 am and not before that.

In an order issued on Friday, 13 October, Tamil Nadu Government Principal Secretary P Amudha directed authorities to permit the screening of one special show of Leo, apart from the regular shows, on 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 October.

She went on to categorically state, “All theatres can screen only one special show, the opening show will start at 9:00 am and the last show will end at 1:30 am.”

The order comes in the wake of speculation on when theatres would start screening the first show. While some theatres had planned to screen the show at 4:00 am, some others had planned to screen it at 7:00 am.

However, with the new order now coming in, the first show of the film will have to be screened only at or later than 9:00 am.

Leo breaking records

The film, which features actor Vijay in the lead, also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, and Mansoor Ali Khan, among others.

Meanwhile, Ahimsa Entertainment, which holds the theatrical rights for Leo in the UK, claimed that the film now held the record for the All-time highest UK Day 1 (box office collection).

In a tweet on platform X, Ahimsa Entertainment said, “We’ve just rewritten the history books! #LEO’s Day 1 UK box office now stands as the ALL TIME RECORD for any Indian film. A roaring applause for Thalapathy Vijay!”

This is the second record to be broken by Leo in the UK. Earlier, the film had set a new pre-release record in the UK a few weeks ago. Leo bagged the record when a whopping 10000 tickets got booked for the film, within a day of opening ticket sales, 42 days before its global release.
