Suriya in Kanguva

On Sunday, 23 July, the teaser of Suriya’s upcoming pan-Indian film Kanguva was released by its makers to mark the actor’s birthday. The teaser took the internet by storm and garnered a whopping 22 million views in just 24 hours.

Addressing the media, soon after the launch of the teaser, Kanguva director Siva said the period film has a fictional story and it is not based on real incidents as was being speculated in some circles.

The movie is being produced on a grand scale by Studio Green Productions in association with UV Creations.

Set 1,650 years ago

The story of Kanguva is set almost 1,650 years ago in Tamil Nadu.

Director Siva stated that he got the idea for the flick almost four years ago. He also revealed that he always wanted to do an action-period film but waited for the right moment.

“Everybody in the team is excited. I am working with the same team that was part of my previous films. Suriya put in a lot of hard work for Kanguva. We had to shoot in deep forests which required us to take long treks,” he added.

Releasing in 10 languages and 3D

Kanguva evoked huge expectations from audiences as it is not only being released in 10 languages but also in 3D format.

In fact, the unit already began working on converting the film from 2D to 3D.

“We are going full blast right now,” said Siva whose team disclosed that the Suriya-starrer will be ready for release early next year.

The promo teaser was released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English languages on Sunday. It will be out in four more languages soon.

Kanguva features Suriya and Disha Patani in the lead roles. Madhan Karky is the dialogue writer, Vetri Palanisamy is the cinematographer, and Devi Sri Prasad is the music director.

Meanwhile, rumours are agog that the movie will have two villains, including Bollywood actor Bobby Deol. However, there has been no official confirmation in this regard.
