Mollywood Magic, the most-awaited event featuring Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty and other prominent actors, has been cancelled.
The event was supposed to be held at the 974 Stadium in Qatar on Thursday, 7 March, where Football World Cup matches were held.
The programme was organised by Nine One Events in association with Kerala Film Producers Association.
Mohanlal arrived in Qatar from the US where he is shooting for his upcoming film L2: Empuraan.
According to Nine One Events, the event organiser, the event was cancelled due to technical issues and unexpected rains.
However, sources revealed that Mollywood Magic was cancelled due to a fund crunch. The sponsors could not raise enough money, which resulted in the cancellation of the event, hours before it was to start.
Mollywood Magic was jointly organised by the Kerala Film Producers Association and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists.
It was directed by Edavela Babu, M Renjith, and Nadirshah.
A galaxy of Malayalam actors, including Jayasurya, Dileep, Krishna Prabha, Kunchako Boban, Asif Ali, Biju Menon, and Swetha Menon reached Qatar to take part in the event.
They did rehearsals for the event in Kochi and Qatar.
The event was planned in November last year and was postponed to 7 March for some reason.
Meanwhile, the organisers said the ticket amount will be refunded in 60 days. The buyers can send the details of the tickets to tickets.9one@gmail.com.
