A plea has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking the issuance of directions to Indigo Airlines to initiate action against Malayalam actor Vinayakan for allegedly abusing a co-passenger in May.
The plea was filed by the co-passenger who was allegedly abused by Vinayakan while the former was waiting to board an Indigo flight.
Considering the plea, Justice KV Kunhikrishnan on Tuesday, 13 June, directed the petitioner’s counsel to implead Vinayakan as a respondent in the petition, the Bar and Bench reported.
According to the petitioner, on 27 May, while waiting at the Goa Airport — a layover from Chandigarh to Kochi — he noticed a crowd near the boarding bridge. However, he kept watching a video on his mobile phone.
Just then, actor Vinayakan — who was boarding the same flight — started abusing him and accusing him of shooting his (Vinyakan’s) video.
Though the petitioner reiterated that he did not shoot any video and even offered to let the actor check his phone, Vinayakan kept abusing the former.
“It appeared that he (Vinayakan) was drunk and was behaving in an unruly manner,” the petitioner alleged in the plea, as reported by the Bar and Bench.

Soon after landing in Kochi, the petitioner gave a written complaint to Indigo Airlines as he felt humiliated and mentally harassed by Vinayakan. But Indigo Airlines replied that they can’t take action once the passenger leaves the flight.
In the plea, the petitioner stated that he also gave a representation to the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation through the Airsewa portal. However, the Customer Experience Expert of Indigo Airlines replied that “they have a ‘limited role’ once the passenger is off the flight” and did not initiate any action.
Following this, the petitioner approached the Kerala High Court seeking the issuance of directions to Indigo Airlines and the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to consider his complaint and representation within a time frame to be fixed by the Court.
