Malayalam actor Parvathy Thiruvothu has won the Best Actress Award for her role in Ullozhukku at the IFFM (Indian Film Festival Melbourne).
On Sunday, 198 August, the Malayalam actor took to Instagram where she posted a video of her receiving the award.
Addressing the gathering at IFFM, after accepting the Best Actress Award, Parvathy Thiruvothu thanked Ullozhukku director Christo Tomy and the producers. She also expressed her happiness as her co-actor Urvashi bagged the Best Actress Award at the Kerala State Film Awards, which were announced recently.
Parvathy Thiruvothu wrote on her Instagram page: “The joy of receiving the award on the same day our Urvasi Chechi won the Kerala State Award for her role as Leelamma is inexplicable.”
About filmmaker Christo Tomy, she said, “You, Leelamma and Anju being loved and how.”
Ulozhukku is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and found a place in the top 10 list.
Meanwhile, Parvathy Thiruvothu’s latest outing under the direction of Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan, drew a tremendous response from audiences across the world.
Headlined by Vikram, the movie opened to critical reviews from critics. Further, it emerged as a super hit at the box office. The performances of Vikram and Parvathy Thiruvothu received huge appreciation.
The IFFM 2024 kicked off on 15 August with many Indian film stars and directors attending the event.
The event, to be observed from 15 to 25 August, celebrates Indian films. It was inaugurated by Kartik Aaryan, Imtiaz Ali, Karan Johar, Kabir Khan, and Shoojit Sircar, attending the event.
Kartik Aaryan won the Best Actor Award for his performance in Chandu Champion at the IFFM. Filmmakers Kabir Khan and Nithilan Swaminathan were awarded Best Directors for their films Chandu Champion and Maharaja respectively.
The IFFM 2024 is set to be a dynamic celebration of storytelling, cultural exchange, and artistic collaboration. It offers an extensive lineup of film screenings, panel discussions, and various special events.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne grew into a grand celebration of Indian cinema and culture. This year marks the 15th edition of the festival and it has always been about building bridges between cultures. The IFFM is supported by both the Indian film fraternity and the Victorian government.
