Nupur Sanon is growing as an actor under the shadow of her sister Kriti Sanon.

Drawing parallels with her sister Kriti, Nupur said, “My sister Kriti has done films simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. While shooting for 1: Nenokkadine (2014) in Telugu, she shot for Heropanti (2014) in Bollywood.”

“My journey is similar. I did a film with Nawazuddin Siddique in Hindi. At the same time, I shot for Tiger Nageswara Rao. But Hindi film will hit the screens in November.”

The actress was addressing the media in Hyderabad, ahead of her Telugu debut Tiger Nageswara Rao starring Ravi Teja in the lead.

A pan-India film, Tiger Nageswara Rao is directed by Vamsee and produced by Abhishek Agarwal.

It is about real-life bandit Nageswara Rao who was notorious for robberies, jewellery thefts, and bank heists during the 70s and 80s.

On her character — Sara

Nupur Sanon plays the role of Sara in Tiger Nageswara Rao.

“Sara is a Marvadi girl. She speaks a little bit of Hindi because of her native language. A lively and high-spirited girl, Sara speaks with her eyes,” she said.

“When Sara loves a person, she does anything for him. She goes all out for the person which she could relate to herself,” the actor added.

Nupur Sanon says her sister Kriti doesn’t advise her.

“Sister wants me to make independent decisions. She always tells me to be myself in all situations. We discuss a lot about films during breakfast time in the mornings.”

She noted, “I often review Kriti’s performance honestly on the release of her every movie. Since my films are up for release, I have decided not to be awake for coffee times (laughs).”

‘Ravi Teja was the first reason’

Ask her what made her accept Tiger Nageswara Rao and Nupur Sanon quipped, “The first reason was Ravi Teja. He is the ‘Mass Maharaja’ of Telugu cinema. I felt honoured to get an offer in a film with such a big star.”

She hastened to add: “The next thing was Abhishek Agarwal production house, which produced Kashmir Files (2022) and Karthikeya 2 (2022). The movies got massive recognition. That’s the reason I believed that Tiger Nageswara Rao would be a big hit.”

Nupur is a fan of South Indian films. The emergence of OTT pulled her to the ocean of some spellbinding content from the South.

Magadheera (2009) was the first Telugu film I watched. I keep listening to great things about Telugu cinema and the filmmakers that the industry has.”

‘Mass Maharaja is an apt prefix’

Nupur Sanon likes a handful of actors in Telugu. “I like Sai Pallavi and her command over the craft. Anushka Shetty and Keerthy Suresh, too, are my favourites because they easily get into the skin of the characters. I also like ‘Natural Star’ Nani, Ram Pothineni, and Vishwak Sen.”

Guess what? The actor is enamoured by the energy of “Mass Maharaja” Ravi Teja. “He is one of the heroes from the South who amassed a good fanbase. Most of his movies are dubbed in Hindi. I’ve seen a few films.”

She added, “Well, ‘Mass Maharaja’ is an apt prefix for Ravi Teja because of his comic timing, talent, and energy. He also speaks good Hindi. It was an amazing experience to work with a star actor who is humble and supportive.”

The actor says she also feels great to be part of Telugu cinema and wishes that the audience would love Tiger Nageswara Rao, which is releasing on 20 October.
