Teaser of Antony Varghese Pepe’s ‘Kondal’ released

Antony Varghese, well-known for action dramas, plays the protagonist in Kondal. The movie also stars Shabeer Kallarackal and Goutami Nair in key roles. Prathibha is debuting as the female lead.

According to the makers, Kondal is a revenge drama set against the backdrop of a coastal area and is a big-budget venture.

The Malayalam movie is directed by debutant Ajit Mampally and backed by Weekend Blockbusters. This is the seventh production venture of the banner.

Antony Varghese Pepe teamed up with Weekend Blockbusters for the second time after their superhit film RDX (2023), a high-octane action entertainer.

The team wrapped the shoot recently after an extensive 96-day schedule. They filmed key sequences in the sea for more than 70 days.

First big-budget film for Antony Varghese

Kondal is the first big-budget solo hero project of Antony Varghese and hence is crucial for him.

The art department created a 20-foot shark model for the flick. Last year, they built a 100-foot boat at Kureepuzha in Kollam. Vikram More, who earlier worked on KGF: Chapter 1 (2019) and Kantara (2022), choreographed the stunts.

Deepak D Menon is the cinematographer and Sam CS is the music director. The makers are planning to release the film on 13  September for Onam.

Meanwhile, Antony Varghese Pepe is working on his new movie, Daveed, directed by debutant Govind Vishnu. Daveed also stars Lijomol Jose, Vijayaraghavan, Saiju Kurup, Kichu Tellus, Jess Kukku, and Mohammad Karakki in key roles.

John And Mary Creative, Century Films, Maxlab, and Panorama Studios are jointly producing it.
