Director Girish AD and actor Naslen, who scored a massive hit with Premalu are now back with yet another film I Am Kathalan.
However, this film was shot and ready before Premalu, but the makers decided to release it post Premalu.
After a long delay, I Am Kathalan has a release date—7 November. It is Naslen- Girish AD’s fourth collaboration after Thanneer Mathan Dinangal (2019), Super Sharanya (2022) and Premalu (2024).
I Am Kathalan will star Naslen and newcomer Anishma Anilkumar in the lead roles.
The screenplay for I Am Kathalan was written by actor Sajin Cherukayil. He also plays a major role in the film. Sajin earlier teamed up with Girish for Thanneer Mathan Dinangal (2019) and Super Sharanya (2022).
I Am Kathalan is expected to be a family entertainer with some thrilling elements. Sources say the director adopted a different style for this film.
In an interview previously, Sajin said I Am Kathalan would be a dark thriller with a lot of humour and surprises in the second half.
Girish too during the promotions of Premalu revealed that I Am Kathalan deals with cyber crimes and is different from the genres he tried earlier.
I Am Kathalan has music by Sidhartha Pradeep and editing by Akash Joseph Varghese. The cinematography is handled by Sharan Velayudhan. Dr Paul Varghese, Krishnamoorthy, and Tinu Thomas produced it.
After this venture, the duo are set to come together again for the sequel to Premalu— Premalu 2.
Girish AD’s Premalu was a blockbuster and earned over ₹130 crore at the global box office. The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, too, were hits.
Naslen is also working with Khalid Rahman on a sports drama titled Alappuzha Gymkhana.
Naslen is also working under Arun Dominic. The yet-to-be-titled film is being bankrolled by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer films and has Kalyani Priyadarshan opposite him.
