Ahead of its release on 21 December, Mohanlal’s ‘Neru’ records good pre-sales

While 'Neru' recorded pre-sales worth ₹42 lakh in Kerala, it is likely to put up a tough fight with the biggies —'Salaar' and 'Dunki'.

Mohanlal’s Neru is all set for release on 21 December and the movie is getting good hype, thanks to its promotions in the final leg.

Mohanlal, who was in New Zealand for the shoot of his upcoming bilingual movie, returned to Kerala last week and the promotions were in full swing.

Neru is the fourth film from Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph combination who earlier delivered two superhits in the Drishyam series and 12th Man.

The first part of Drishyam was released a decade ago and the movie which didn’t have many promotions became a sleeper hit in 2013.

Even Neru is a movie that happened as there was a scheduled break for RAM, which came to a halt due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

The makers of Neru, in promotional interviews, said the movie is an emotional courtroom drama and will not have any twists or turns as in Drishyam.

Pre-release sales

Meanwhile, Neru is recording good pre-sales as the bookings of the movie opened on Sunday, 17 December.

According to trade experts, Neru recorded pre-sales worth ₹42 lakh in Kerala. In the state, the movie is likely to put up a good fight with the biggies Salaar and Dunki.

In UAE, there will be around 250 shows on Day 1 for Neru. It earned a gross of $15K so far.

Meanwhile, the Salaar pre-sales touched the ₹1 crore mark.

According to trade experts, around 87,000 tickets have been sold so far. The movie is probably the third-highest Telugu grosser In Kerala from pre-sale.

Salaar also has Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran alongside Prabhas in a major role.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki has earned ₹14 lakh from 269 shows in Kerala. The movie earned a good hype as the Bollywood Badshah’s Pathaan (2023) and Jawan (2023), too, were hits in the Malayalam box office.

A day with fans

On Monday, 18 December, Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal spent some quality time with his fans in Kochi where they celebrated the 25th year of the All Kerala Mohanlal Fans and Cultural Welfare Association.

Mohanlal said he was confident that his boys (fans) would be there with him every time. The actor added that he knew his fans were not expecting anything in return and maybe, they were expecting an autograph or a selfie.

Mohanlal recalled that Mammootty inaugurated the fans association.

Later, he posed for 5,641 photoshoots with his fans.

Meanwhile, a new song from Neru, “Roohe” was also launched by its makers on Tuesday, 19 December.
