Prithviraj’s directorial, and the sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer— L2: Empuraan has wrapped up its shooting on Sunday, 1 December.
The film starring Mohanlal canned its final shot on the banks of the Malampuzha reservoir in Kerala.
The much-anticipated film has already locked its release date, it is set to hit the big screens on 27 March, 2025.
Sharing the update, the director-actor wrote on X, “At 5:35 am today, by the banks of the Malampuzha reservoir, we canned the final shot of #L2E #EMPURAAN See you in theatres in 117 days!”

The shooting of L2: Empuraan started in October 2023. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions are jointly producing it.
It will be simultaneously released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The superstar actor too took to social media, to share his thoughts. Mohanlal credited the director for the film’s brilliance. “This film owes its magic to the brilliant direction of Prithviraj Sukumaran whose creativity elevates every frame,” he wrote.
He further thanked everyone associated with the film. “A big thank you to Murali Gopy for his visionary storytelling that forms the heart of this film. A heartfelt thank you to Antony Perumbavoor for his unwavering belief in this project and to Mr.Subaskaran and Lyca Productions for their invaluable support. None of this would have been possible without the dedicated cast and crew, who bring this story to life.”

Mohanlal is also working on his forthcoming film with Shobana, titled Thudarum. It is helmed by director Tharun Moorthy and produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s directorial debut Barroz is also expected to be released soon. He will also be seen in Rambaan, directed by veteran filmmaker Joshiy.
The film’s screenplay is based on Jijo Punnoose’s popular novel “Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure“. In the novel, Barroz protects Vasco da Gama’s hidden treasure for over four centuries.
Mohanlal plays the titular role in the flick. The other cast includes Maya, Sara Vega, Tuhin Menon, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, and Guru Somasundaram.
The Malayalam Superstar is also a part of other non-Malayalam films like Vrishabha and Kannappa–. Both are touted to be pan-Indian projects.
