Lucifer (2019)-fame Murali Gopy has scripted an interesting story for a bilingual film, which will be headlined by Tamil actor Arya. Murali Gopy will also act in it.
This is the first time that Murali Gopy and Arya are teaming up for a flick.
The Malayalam-Tamil bilingual movie will be directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar. It marks the reunion of Murali Gopy and Jiyen Krishnakumar after the hit film Tiyaan (2017), a socio-political thriller starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Indrajith Sukumaran.
The yet-untitled bilingual film was launched on Wednesday, 7 August with a pooja ceremony at a temple in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram. The film will feature prominent actors from Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
The film will be produced by S Vinod Kumar under the banner of Mini Studio. This will be his 14th film, following the success of the Tamil hit Mark Antony (2023).
Meanwhile, Murali Gopy’s upcoming movie L2: Empuraan, a sequel to Lucifer, is under production. The Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial was recently shot in the US and the UK.
The team, including Mohanlal and Prithviraj, completed the Gujarat schedule. However, they are yet to wrap up the production. L2: Empuraan is scheduled for release next year.
Murali Gopy’s latest movie with Indrans, Kanakarajyam, was released in July. It evoked a positive response from the audience.
Murali Gopy recently completed 20 years in Malayalam cinema. He debuted as a scriptwriter with Dileep’s Rasikan (2004). He became a household name after his role in Bhramaram (2009) won him accolades.
His films like Ee Adutha Kaalathu (2012) and Left Right Left (2013) brought him critical acclaim.
On the other hand, Arya was last seen in a cameo role in Santhosh P Jayakumar’s The Boys. He co-produced Jay K’s Malayalam film Grrr, which had Kunchacko Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles.
The actor recently completed shooting his part for Manu Anand’s Mr X, an action drama that also stars Manju Warrier and Gautham Karthik.
Further, Arya is producing the fourth instalment in the Dhilluku Dhuddu (2016, 2019 & 2023) franchise, which has Santhanam in the lead role.
