The shooting of Bromance, the third directorial of Jo and Jo (2022)-fame Arun D Jose, commenced with a pooja ceremony in Kochi on Monday, 15 July.
The Malayalam movie features Arjun Ashokan and Mathew Thomas in the lead roles. Mahima Nambiar plays the female lead.
Bromance also casts Premalu actors Shyam Mohan, Sangeeth Prathap, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Binu Pappu in key roles. Shyam Mohan collaborated with Arun D Jose on Journey of Love: 18 Plus (2023), which had a decent run at the box office.
The film is scripted by Arun, Raveesh Nath, and Thomas P Sebastian. Interestingly, both Arun and Raveesh worked on Jo and Jo and 18 Plus. They also co-wrote Raveesh’s directorial debut Samadhana Pusthakam, which will hit the screens on 19 July.
The cinematography will be handled by Akhil George and the editing by Chaman Chakko. The music and background score will be composed by Govind Vasantha. Ashiq Usman is bankrolling the film and Central Pictures is distributing it.
A native of Wayanad, Arun D Jose has been in the Malayalam film industry for the past 10-12 years. He worked as an assistant and associate director for several movies.
In an interview, Arun D Jose told South First that he finds every film challenging as a director and added that he likes to make films of all genres.
His debut, Jo and Jo, was a feel-good film that dealt with a brother-sister relationship played by Mathew Thomas and Nikhila Vimal. 18 Plus, a romantic comedy, highlighted caste politics in Kerala.
Meanwhile, Arjun Ashokan will next be seen in Vishnu Vinay’s Anand Sreebala, Vishnu Sasi Shankar’s Sumathi Valavu, Lijo Thomas’s Anbodu Kanmani, and Akhil Anilkumar’s untitled venture.
He was appreciated for his intense performance in the recently released Once Upon A Time in Kochi (2024). The Nadirshah film missed the mark because of the bad script.
On the other hand, Mathew Thomas will reunite with Sreenath Bhasi for their upcoming film Udumbanchola Vision. He is also part of director Dileesh Karunakaran’s Lovely.
Recently, Mathew Thomas played an extended cameo role in the blockbuster movie Premalu (2024). He was also seen in the Tamil hit film Leo (2023), where he played the son of Vijay’s Parthiban.
