Bollywood actor Akshay Oberoi is making his debut in South Indian cinema with the Kannada film Toxic, where he’ll star alongside superstar Yash.
Following a standout year that started with his role in Fighter, Akshay Oberoi is now joining the cast of this highly anticipated movie.
Known for his roles in OTT series like Illegal-Justice Out of Order (2020) and Flesh (2020), Akshay Oberoi has confirmed his debut in South Indian cinema with the Kannada film Toxic. He also shared a photo on social media from the film’s set, where he was warmly welcomed by the team, sparking excitement among fans and industry insiders.
Akshay Oberoi recently travelled to Bengaluru to start filming Toxic, one of the year’s most eagerly awaited releases. The movie is being produced on a grand scale.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, known for the acclaimed Malayalam film Moothon (2019) and her debut Liar’s Dice (2013), Toxic is a multilingual action thriller.
Announced in December 2023, it is being jointly produced by Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
Set for release on 10 April 2025, Toxic promises to be an action-packed drama focusing on the drug mafia. And, this one is the 19th film of Yash.
Given his established success on OTT with numerous hit series, Akshay Oberoi likely has a high benchmark for selecting his projects.
According to Akshay Oberoi, the real indicator of success is whether people are actively discussing and praising it.
“The true measure of success is reflected in public opinion. A film’s impact isn’t solely determined by its release scale or box office earnings but by the buzz it generates. If a project earns well but lacks positive reception, it won’t create a strong buzz. OTT platforms offer a more genuine measure of success, as viewers choose to watch based on interest rather than heavy promotion,” he was quoted saying, in an interview.
While filming a key schedule of Toxic in Bengaluru, Akshay Oberoi is also involved in another project, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, where he stars with Varun Dhawan.
