Kannada watchlist June 2023

Sadly, there are no big releases for Sandalwood this June. It’s been a while since the Kannada film industry has witnessed a major release due to the Assembly Elections in Karnataka and the Indian Premier League (IPL) that just got concluded.

While there are still no signs of any “star” actors making it to the theatres anytime soon, here’s the list of small and medium-budget films that are scheduled to release this June.

Yadha Yadha Hi

Newlywed star couple — Vashista Simha and Hariprriya — will be seen sharing the screen space alongside Diganth Manchale in the suspense thriller Yadha Yadha Hi Directed by Ashok Tej, the film is a remake of the Telugu film Evaru (2019).

For the first time, Hariprriya plays a negative role and the murder mystery heavily rests on her character.

The real-life couple not only shared the screen space but also sang the title song of Yadha Yadha Hi.

Telugu composer Sricharan Pakala is the music director. The film will release on 2 June. Noted producer-distributor Jack Manju is bankrolling it.

As a part of the promotional exercise, the film team announced paid premieres for audiences in Veeresh Theatre, Bengaluru and Sudha Theatre in Hubbali for just ₹1 on 31 May, on a first come first serve basis till the tickets are sold out.

Previously, he directed O Mallige (1997), known for its melodious songs featuring Kumar Govind and Sudharani.

His latest directorial Darbar, as he claims, is a clean comedy without any kind of double entendre.

Real Star Upendra sang the “Election Song” for Darbar.

Writer-producer Satish plays the lead role in the film. It is set to release on 9 June.
