As Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal will be streamed on Netflix on 26 January, people who missed watching the film in multiplexes are excited to watch it on the OTT platform.
There’s a lot of curiosity about Animal and why it stirred up controversies when the film was running with houseful boards in theatres.
Initially, several people were expected to watch Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial due to the craze it generated. However, it is uncertain how the Netflix audience will react to the film, especially since some scenes in the second half were criticised for being unrealistic and misogynistic.
The director’s attempt to portray the protagonist Ranvijay Singh Balbir (played by Ranbir Kapoor) as a cult-like figure also faced backlash. It will be interesting to see how viewers would respond to these scenes of Animal and how it will affect the viewership of Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire, which is trending on Netflix.
Prabhas-Prashanth Neel’s Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire is already streaming on Netflix in four South Indian languages. It will soon be released in English too.
The response from the OTT audience to Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire has been better than that from how it received from theatrical audiences.
Coming back to Animal, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer continued its theatrical run for more than 40 days. According to the makers, the action film minted over ₹900 crore worldwide.
Animal is about Ranvijay Singh, a violent young man who seeks revenge after learning about an assassination attempt on his father.
The air is dense and the temperature is rising. 🔥🔥
