Despite new releases, theatres remain dull and dreary!

Despite new releases every week, the Telugu box office fails to ignite any excitement among the audiences due to which many theatres have worn a dreary look.

This is largely due to the absence of any standout films coming this summer.

Although there had been some noise with films like Tillu Square and Om Bheem Bush early this summer.

Among this week’s releases, Vishal’s Rathnam emerged as the sole contender at the box office. However, Hari’s directorial proved to be another dud in the careers of both Vishal and the filmmaker.

The same-old repetitive stuff and screenplay in the film have tested the patience of audiences. And the predictable second half made audiences tiresome.

Despite weekend collections that are usually claimed by the makers, such films largely fail to meet the expectations of audiences.

Here, Vishal missed an opportunity this week. While reports from Tamil Nadu suggest a lukewarm reception, achieving break-even locally would still be considered a success.

Another small-budget film, Jara Hatke, went unnoticed upon its release on Friday. It failed to generate even the minimum buzz.

Despite the innovative attempts by the new generation filmmakers and the lack of interest from the stage where the trailer was launched to the release day, nothing seems to have captured the attention of moviegoers.

As a result, several theatres are going for re-releases to sustain their business.

Lesser footfall in theatres & cancelled shows

Similarly, the response to the Hollywood movie Ghostbusters Frozen Empire remains quite dull because of the mixed talk. The market analysts predict that there will be no significant surge in terms of footfalls in theatres, even though it is a holiday time.

Another Hollywood flick Abigail, which is based on the 1936 Universal Classic Monsters film Dracula’s Daughter, seems to have failed to impress audiences in India.

Even the Hindi film Ruslan, directed by Karan Lalit Butani and backed by KK Radhamohan, is shrouded with negative talk.

Amidst this volatile market scenario in Tollywood, it’s quite challenging for the producers to figure out to what extent the films can pull audiences, and how many shows get cancelled in theatres.

With last week’s new releases proving to be a disappointment, exhibitors are resorting to pushing old films (re-releases).

Meanwhile, the availability of Tillu Square on Netflix since Friday could severely impact box office collections.

While Vijay Deverakonda’s The Family Star faded long ago from the memory of audiences, upcoming releases like Suhas’ Prasanna Vadanam, Allari Naresh’s Aa Okkati Adakku, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s Sabari, and Tamannaah Bhatia-Raashi Khanna’s Aranmanai 4 are some of the new releases movie enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for.

Notably, the makers are set to release Aranmanai 4 in Telugu with the title Baak. And the producers hope for good days to come!
