Kiccha Sudeep defamation case against MN Kumar

A Bengaluru court has summoned Kannada film producers MN Kumar and MN Suresh to appear before it on 26 August.

The court passed the orders to this effect after recording the statement of Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep on Thursday, 10 August. The actor filed a defamation suit against the two producers for making illegal and baseless allegations against him.

During a press conference on 3 July, Kumar accused Sudeep of not honouring his promise made nine years ago — to act in a movie under his production — even after receiving the remuneration for the same.

The producer also alleged that he paid money to the actor towards buying a residential property located in Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bengaluru.

Sudeep made Suresh an accused after the latter issued a threat claiming that producer MN Kumar attempted suicide in the past because of the actor. Suresh also threatened that the actor and his family would be solely held responsible if Kumar ever resorts to such extreme steps.

No negotiation

While efforts were on to settle the matter between the actor and the producers outside the court, Kiccha Sudeep made it clear that he was in no mood for any kind of negotiation and recorded his statement before the court which is hearing his defamation plea against the producers.

In his plea, the actor stated that the allegations made against him were far from the truth and were an attempt to defame and dent his long-built image, thereby annihilating his prospects in the industry.

Unhappy with KFCC

Kiccha Sudeep is presently busy with the shooting of his upcoming Tamil project which is tentatively titled K46. It is directed by Vijay Karthikeya.

Even as he approached the court, Sudeep expressed his displeasure against the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) for entertaining the two producers by not verifying if their allegations were true.
