Even as Mammootty continues his winning streak at the box office, the Malayalam Superstar is drawing praise for his choice of roles.

Post-Covid, the thespian seems to have changed his strategy and is doing films of different genres.

In Bheeshma Parvam (2022), Mammootty played the role of Michael Appan, a don from Kochi.

In Rorschach (2022), the actor surprised everyone as a creepy person who seeks revenge for his wife’s murder.

In Puzhu (2022), he appeared in a negative role.

In Kaathal-The Core (2023), the actor raised eyebrows by playing a homosexual.

Needless to say, his Kannur Squad (2023) and the latest Telugu film Yaatra 2 (2024) also did well at the box office.

Bramayugam rules the roost

And now, Mammootty’s first release in 2024 Bramayugam — is making history at the box office.

Shot entirely in Black and White, the Malayalam movie was not much promoted by the team.

Mammootty said it was a deliberate approach from the team.

Meanwhile, the actor’s willingness to play a negative role (as Kodumon Potty) in the film is being widely appreciated.

Upon its release, Bramayugam opened to positive responses from audiences and critics alike.

It collected over ₹7 crore worldwide on its opening day. It is running successfully in Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru cities.

According to trade experts, Bramayugam collected ₹3.05 crore from Kerala on day 1 and ₹3.32 crore from the GCC countries. The rest of the collection came from the rest of India and other foreign countries.

Soon after its release, the Malayalam film witnessed over 100 extra shows.

According to the Sacnilk website, Bramayugam earned around ₹2.50 crore from India on day 2. This makes over ₹5 crore of gross collection from India itself.

However, the weekend will see a good collection with extra shows charted by theatres in both urban and rural areas.

Bramayugam is directed by Rahul Sadasivan and jointly produced by Y Not Studios and Night Shift Studios.

The music by Christo Xavier is one of the major highlights of the film.

It also boasts amazing performances by Arjun Ashokan and Siddharth Bharathan.

Meanwhile, Premalu (2024) also registered good collections in theatres. It crossed a ₹20 crore gross collection worldwide.

Anweshippin Kandethum (2024) is also doing decent business at the Kerala box office.
