Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal has achieved a remarkable feat on the OTT platform Netflix by surpassing everyone’s expectations in terms of viewing hours.
Breaking the new ground in the digital space, Animal has set a new record that no film has so far made.
Animal has garnered over 20 million viewing hours in the first three days of being streamed on Netflix since 26 January.
Sandeep Reddy’s directorial has achieved a record-breaking 6.2 million views on Netflix, a feat no Indian movie has made thus far.
The outstanding performance of Animal has affected Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire, which previously was trending at the top on Netflix.
As a result, the Prabhas-starrer has dropped to the third position in Telugu rankings and touched down to the top 10 in the other dubbed versions.
Animal is expected to go on for several more weeks as millions of viewers, who missed it in theatres, will continue to enjoy the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer from the comfort of their homes.
Even as social media has become a battleground for debates, criticisms, and counterarguments on Animal, its director Sandeep Reddy Vanga chose to remain silent.
Meanwhile, a fan prepared a note of how many instances Ranbir Kapoor addressed Anil Kapoor as “papa” in Animal. A video posted by the fan disclosed that the word “papa” was uttered a staggering 196 times by the lead character Ranvijay (Ranbir).
Trade pundits say Animal could surpass the record held by “R”, which currently holds the highest viewership on Netflix.
