54th IFFI: Six Malayalam films selected in Indian Panorama; ‘Aattam’ to be the opening feature film

In all, 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films will be showcased at the 54th IFFI to be held in Goa from 20-28 November.

Anand Ekarshi’s Malayalam film Aattam will be the opening feature film for the Indian Panorama 2023 at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

Indian Panorama, the flagship component of the IFFI, made an announcement to this effect on Monday, 23 October.

It also announced that 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films will be showcased at the 54th IFFI to be held in Goa from 20-28 November.

Six Malayalam films selected

In all, six Malayalam films have been selected in the Feature Film category at the 54th IFFI, apart from the opening feature film (Aattam).

Rohit MG Krishnan’s Iratta (2023), Jeo Baby’s Kaathal, Vishnu Sasi Shankar’s Malikappuram (2022), Ratheesh Balakrishna Poduval’s Nna Thaan Case Kodu (2022), Ganesh Raj’s Pookkaalam (2023), and Jude Anthany Joseph’s 2018-Everyone Is A Hero (2023) are the Malayalam films that will be screened in the Indian Panorama 2023.

A package of 25 feature films has been selected to be screened in the Indian Panorama section at the 54th IFFI from a broad spectrum of 408 contemporary Indian feature films.

The feature films reflect the vibrancy and diversity of the Indian film industry.

Aim of Indian Panorama

The aim of the Indian Panorama — organised by the National Film Development Corporation, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India — is to select the feature and non-feature films of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence in accordance with the conditions and procedures in the said regulations of Indian Panorama.

The selection of the Indian Panorama is made by eminent personalities from the world of cinema from across India comprising a total of twelve Jury members for feature films and six jury members for non-feature films led by the respective chairpersons.

The Indian Panorama was introduced in 1978 as part of the IFFI umbrella to promote Indian Films along with India’s rich culture and heritage with the help of cinematic art.

Since its inception, the Indian Panorama has been completely devoted to showcasing the best Indian films of the year.
