On CJP protest day, Elon Musk addresses ‘Prime Minister Ambani’
Elon Musk has gone further with his crony capitalism allegation, anointing fellow Richie Rich club member, Reliance's Mukesh Ambani, as the Prime Minister of India.
It’s not just on the ground that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing a challenge on a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest day, when Delhi was turned into a fortress and arrests were made in an unprecedented manner.
The head of a government that reportedly sent 1.95 lakh blocking orders to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube was also targeted on X a few hours earlier.
The man directing the fire at the Prime Minister was a powerful voice and someone who could not be easily picked up: Mr X himself, Elon Musk.
Keen on seeing his Starlink services reach India and frustrated at the delay in the granting of permissions, the world’s first trillionaire had already blamed certain oligarchs for standing in the way and maintaining ‘their chokehold’ on the telecom sector.
On Saturday, he went further with his crony capitalism allegation, anointing fellow Richie Rich club member, Reliance’s Mukesh Ambani, as the Prime Minister of India.
Musk called Ambani the real boss of India.
He posted on X:
“Dear Prime Minister Ambani,
Please accept my humble apologies for not realising that you are the real boss of India.
Naturally, you would prefer to maintain your monopolistic exploitation of the great people of India, but would you nonetheless consider allowing Starlink to compete?
There are many areas of India, as there are in all countries, with no Internet access, which denies children the opportunity for education and for small businesses the opportunity to sell their goods to a global market. Starlink would change their lives for the better.
Thank you”
With the owner of X himself ratcheting up his attacks against the Indian government, it will be interesting to see how the Centre responds, given that it cannot shoot off a takedown order.
Top BJP leader and former IT minister responded to Musk, noting, “Satellite technology represents a very different type of challenge for national security. The security clearance that’s underway will vet the safety and trust issues of every provider, every applicant. This government has been focused from day one on transparency, equal opportunity for all and, most importantly, the national security interest and the national interest. Safety and trust first, @elonmusk. Then spectrum.”
