Rama Nandana and Jagarlamudi Madhukar, accused in UK visa fraud
Synopsis: Popular social media influencer Rama Nandana was detained by the police over an alleged UK visa scam. Nandana and her husband have been accused of defrauding people by promising jobs and sponsorship certificates in the UK in exchange for large amounts of money.
Telugu social media influencer A Rama Nandana, known for her YouTube channel Nandu’s World, was intercepted by immigration officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, on Monday, 7 September, after a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by Andhra Pradesh police flagged her arrival.
Nandana is expected to be handed over to Ibrahimpatnam police in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district, where a cheating case against her, her husband Jagarlamudi Madhukar, and his father Mohan Rao has been pending since November 2025.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Mamillapalli Sivakranthi Kumar, a West Ibrahimpatnam native living in London who knew Madhukar personally. When Kumar’s UK visa neared expiry, he approached Destiny Consultancy, a firm linked to the couple, for help. Investigators allege the accused projected themselves as well-connected in the country and promised to secure a visa renewal, a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), and employment.
Through 2023, Kumar is said to have transferred an estimated Rs 15 lakh in instalments to accounts tied to the consultancy’s India operations. The sponsorship document he eventually received turned out to be fake, and the UK company it named reportedly denied issuing it. Kumar told police only Rs 2 lakh was refunded despite repeated demands, and that he faced threats when he pushed for the rest.

Ibrahimpatnam police booked Madhukar as accused number one, Nandana as accused number two, and Mohan Rao as accused number three, invoking cheating and fraud charges. In June 2026, investigating officers from the NTR District Commissionerate said the couple had been absconding for months, prompting a formal search. Police are also separately examining 20 other people across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana who were approached with similar offers and were possibly defrauded by the couple.
Originally from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Nandana and Madhukar built a large following through Nandu’s World by chronicling their life in the UK. The Nandu’s World channel on YouTube has amassed over 2.8 million followers. Nandana also starred in the Telugu film Mana Shankar Varaprasad Garu opposite superstar Chiranjeevi.
Police believe that visibility, combined with the couple’s UK residency, lent credibility to the consultancy’s operations. Officials believe that this made victims comfortable wiring large sums of money without formal contracts.
Nandana rejected the allegations in an earlier video statement and maintained that neither she nor her husband owns or runs any consultancy. She also suggested that the case was driven by people with personal differences with the family and alleged that others may have misused the couple’s name to collect money independently.
Separately, the couple has approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR against them. While Nandana is now in the custody of RGIA police pending transfer to Andhra Pradesh, Madhukar’s location remains unclear.
Investigators are expected to question her on the trail of funds, the source of the disputed sponsorship letters, and the scale of the alleged fraud beyond the Sivakranthi Kumar complaint.
