According to a national study by ICMR published in The Lancet, there is a significant variation in the spread of Hepatitis A across India, with Kerala standing out uniquely. However, whether this can be considered an achievement remains a health conundrum.
Among the 14,778 blood samples from young Indians analysed, the study found that while the national average indicates that 90 percent have been exposed to the Hepatitis A virus (HAV), only 44.8 percent in Kerala had antibodies against the virus.
