Nadoja Pindipapanahalli Munivenkatappa, the ‘thamate’ master was honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to folk art.

But the septuagenarian from a village in Chikkaballapur district says the honour is for a Dalit art form that is fighting for survival.
