Side effects of food colours

Ahead of the festival season, sweet shops are adorned with a variety of sweets in different colours, flavours and shapes. According to FSSAI, sales of sweets increase during festivals by three times than usual, with many small-scale enterprises also preparing the sweets in bulk.

However, oftentimes, they focus on profits rather than quality. Due to this, there is a possibility of synthetic colours and other adulterants being used.
