Row over clearing trees for Formula E track in Hyderabad

Citizens and nature lovers in Hyderabad are up in arms against the administration over the removal of trees around Hussain Sagar Lake.

The trees are being removed to make way for the Formula E event in February next year.

Environmentalists highlighted the irony behind showcasing environmentally sustainable technologies by cutting trees.

Earlier in the year, Hyderabad was selected for the ‘World Green City 2022’.

The state government maintained that translocation of a minimum number of trees was inevitable to ensure track width for the event.
