The ban on Plaster of Paris (POP) imposed by the government has become a bitter pill to swallow, for the idol makers. They say that the eco-friendly idols made of clay are neither durable not profitable.
Those pursuing the profession for many years have been complaining of incurring losses to the tune of ₹15 lakh in the business now that the POP idols are banned.
They urge the government to bring an amicable eco-friendly solution to the problem than the outright ban on POP.
