Over 50 students fall sick after inhaling toxic gas in Secunderabad college

Over 50 Kasturba Gandhi Degree and Junior College students in Secunderabad fell sick after inhaling toxic gas on Friday, 18 November.

At least 20 students are still in the hospital and doctors say all are out of danger.

Students complained of chest congestion, nausea and throat irritation while having lunch on the second floor of the college building.

They were rushed to the hospital by college authorities.

Anxious parents were at the hospital attending to their wards, some of them in the ICU.

While forensic experts were at the college to probe the source of any gas leak, police and college authorities have, so far, maintained that the noxious odour came.

At the same time, garbage was being cleared at a dump adjacent to the college premises.
