The Karnataka Forest Department has launched a massive operation to capture a marauding elephant that killed two people in Kadaba near Mangaluru.

Op Elephant was launched with over 50 forest personnel, mahouts, kavadigas and locals.

Five trained elephants from Nagarhole and Dubare have been roped in to capture the wild pachyderm. Drones and several field teams are also part of the search and capture operation.

Ranjita (28) and Ramesh Rai (58) were killed in Rejilady village early on Monday, 20 February, morning.

Following protests by residents, the forest department launched the massive operation to capture the wild elephant.
