Karnataka-Maharashtra border row: Police detain over 500 pro-Kannada activists

Tension prevailed in Belagavi after members of Kannada Rakshana Vedike took out a massive protest on Tuesday, 6 December, against Maharashtra over the interstate border issue.

Protestors also vandalised a few Maharashtra registered vehicles. At the Hire Bagewadi toll plaza, police caned unruly protestors to bring the situation under control and detained over 500 Vedike activists.

Police have stepped up security across the region following inter-state tensions.
