In surprising remarks, YSRCP regional coordinator for North Andhra Pradesh and Rajya Sabha nominee, YV Subba Reddy, sparked controversy with his recent statements on continuing Hyderabad as the joint capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for a few more years.

In the meantime, the Opposition parties, namely the TDP and the Jana Sena, are pledging to reinstate Amaravati as the sole capital upon assuming power.

They criticise the YSRCP’s decision to abolish the single capital Amaravati and introduce the concept of three capitals, alleging it to be a political vendetta.
