Controversy over posters of Dr BR Ambedkar in saffron shirt

Controversy erupted over posters showing Dr BR Ambedkar wearing a saffron shirt and holy ash smeared on his forehead.

Posters were reportedly put up by members of Hindu Makkal Katchi in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu.

The posters surfaced on the occasion of the death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.

VCK chief and MP Thirumavalavan condemned the attempt to saffronise Ambedkar, a Dalit icon.
