Andhra Pradesh’s mango farmers are facing a major crisis. In Chittoor district, where mango cultivation has thrived for over 2,000 years, farmers are being forced to sell Totapuri mangoes at shockingly low prices — sometimes as low as ₹2.5 per kilogram.

Despite Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s order to ensure a minimum price of ₹8 per kg (with an additional ₹4 subsidy), mango pulp companies continue to ignore the directive. As farmers protest the exploitation, tonnes of mangoes are rotting in trucks and on the ground.

In this video, we bring you voices from the ground — farmers like Lokesh and Babu — who explain the real cost of mango farming, how subsidies are failing to reach them, and why they are considering abandoning mango cultivation altogether.
