The Kerala government has come under attack from various quarters for its mishandling of the Brahmapuram solid waste plant fire that left residents of Kochi choking on toxic fumes for nearly a fortnight.

The latest is scathing remarks by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that has warned the state it could impose a fine of ₹500 crore over the issue.

Meanwhile, BJP took out a massive protest in Kochi blaming the government over the Brahmapuram issue.

BJP state president K Surendran claimed the Centre had offered help, but the Pinarayi government had refused to respond.
