Bharat Jodo Yatra: Thousands rally behind Rahul Gandhi in Thiruvananthapuram

On the fifth day of his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi received a rousing reception from the residents of Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, 12 September.

Hundreds thronged the city streets to get a glimpse of the mass leader in spite of the adverse weather condition. Traffic in the city was totally paralysed when thousands turned up on the roads.

In the morning, he resumed the march from Vellayani Junction on the southern edge of the Thiruvananthapuram. The morning schedule of the yatra ended at Pattom at around 11 am.

A number of guests joined Rahul Gandhi for lunch at St Mary’s School, Pattom.

He met representatives of the Latin Catholic church who are agitating against the under-construction Vizhinjam International seaport.

The priests briefed him about the environmental and livelihood concerns of the project promoted by corporate giant Adani.
