‘TDP Congress’, ‘arrogant’: Konda Susmita levels serious allegations against Telangana CM Revanth Reddy
Susmita accused Revanth of developing arrogance after becoming Chief Minister and claimed that original leaders of the party are unhappy with the present situation in the Congress.
Synopsis: Konda Susmita, daughter of Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, has levelled serious allegations against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of arrogance, misusing the Intelligence Department and favouring former TDP leaders within the Congress. She also raised the Parkal Assembly seat issue, saying she would contest independently if denied the Congress ticket, while repeating allegations regarding a land deal involving the Chief Minister’s brother.
Konda Susmita, daughter of Telangana Forest and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, on Wednesday, 19 August levelled serious allegations against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
She accused him of developing arrogance after becoming Chief Minister and claimed that the ruling Congress in Telangana has effectively become a “TDP Congress”.
According to her, original Congress leaders are unhappy with the present situation in the party.
Susmita further alleged that the Chief Minister is afraid and is using the Intelligence Department against his own ministers.
She also charged that a ₹200 crore land deal involving the Chief Minister’s brother has taken place and warned that many scams linked to the CM’s family would soon come to light.
In the same set of remarks, Susmita made her position on the Parkal Assembly seat clear. She stated that she is the next MLA of Parkal and asserted that she is ready to contest the election independently if the Congress does not give her the party ticket.
She questioned how the Chief Minister could declare support for sitting MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy when elections are still two years away and asked whether the leadership was ignoring the claims of Backward Class leaders.
Fresh criticism from within the family of a sitting minister
Susmita’s statements come more than nine months after a major controversy in October 2025.
At that time, police had visited the Konda family’s Hyderabad residence in connection with an extortion case against the minister’s then-aide.
Susmita had then accused senior leaders, including the Chief Minister, his Advisor Vem Narender Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, of targeting her parents because they belong to the Backward Classes.
She had also spoken of interference in contracts and pressure over endowment land decisions.
Minister Surekha later apologised to Revanth Reddy, saying her daughter’s comments were made in anger and describing the episode as a misunderstanding within the party.
The latest allegations by Susmita also touch upon a recent opposition claim. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi has alleged that government land worth around ₹200 crore was allotted for about ₹7 crore to a company linked to the Chief Minister’s brother Anumula Kondal Reddy.
Susmita’s reference to the land deal appears to align with this charge, which the BRS has been pressing for a probe. Congress leaders have maintained that the allotment followed due process.
The Konda family has shown interest in the Parkal seat for some time. Minister Surekha’s absence from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent tour of the erstwhile Warangal district, which included a public meeting in Parkal, has added to the speculation about internal differences.
At that meeting, the CM sought public support for Revuri Prakash Reddy, prompting Susmita’s sharp response on ticket claims and BC representation.
Susmita’s allegations once again bring into focus the tensions within the Telangana Congress, particularly between Backward Class leaders and those seen as part of the dominant Reddy or former TDP groups.
Her charges of arrogance, misuse of the Intelligence Department, conversion of the party into a “TDP Congress”, family-linked scams, and the threat of an independent contest from Parkal remain political allegations at this stage.
There was no immediate response from the Chief Minister’s office or the party leadership on Wednesday.
