Telangana BJP campaign slogan

The BJP will go to Telangana polls with the slogan: “Vote for Lotus to ensure jobs to all eligible youth.”

This was decided on Monday, 22 May, at the party’s state executive committee meeting held at Champapet in Hyderabad.

BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar called on the party leaders and cadres to take this slogan strongly to the people by launching a vigorous door-to-door campaign and convince them that only a “double-engine sarkar” would benefit the state on all fronts.

The party has decided to take up the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan programme from 30 May to 30 June, to explain to people the many programmes taken up by the Union government in New Delhi in the last nine years to lead the country down the path of progress.

Stating that the Telangana government, led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has failed to implement the developmental programmes initiated by the Narendra Modi government, Bandi Sanjay called on the party leaders to extensively campaign to evangelise the programmes among the people through various methods, including the Praja Sangrama Yatra.

Sanjay explained the various programmes taken up by the Union government for the upliftment of the poor, such as the construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the supply of free rice and wheat to the poor, the provision of employment under the National Employment Guarantee programme, and construction of road networks, and other rural infrastructure.

‘Modi made India grow’

“When the entire world was reeling under a severe economic crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic, it was Prime Minister Modi who made India grow as an economic power from the 10th position to the 5th position,” he said.

Sanjay reminded people that the Modi government had spent more than ₹16,000 crore on rural infrastructure development in Telangana, besides ₹35,000 crore on various railways projects and ₹1.50 lakh crore on national highways in the state.

“The Centre also sanctioned 2.40 lakh houses for weaker sections in the state and is ready to sanction another five lakh houses. But the KCR government is not constructing them. It also released 11.50 lakh LPG connections to the poor people in the state,” he said, adding that the restoration of Ramagundam Fertilizers Company at a cost of ₹6,200 crore mitigated the fertiliser scarcity in the state.

The BJP president said that had there been a “double-engine: government in Telangana — that is, the Centre and state being ruled by the same party — the people of the state would have got far more benefits from the Centre, in the areas of health, housing, rural economy, drinking water supply, and other schemes.

A dig at KCR

Stating that he had not seen a more monarchic politician than KCR in his life, Bandi Sanjay alleged that the chief minister was spending money lavishly across the country to defeat the BJP.

“He is known for betrayal and his thankless character. In the recent Assembly elections in Karnataka, he cheated the JD(S) and he is now speaking harsh words against Sushma Swaraj, who had played an instrumental role in bringing statehood to Telangana,” he said, adding that KCR had betrayed the Congress, the TDP, and even the Communist parties.

Bandi Sanjay said that the people of Telangana had already come to the conclusion that the BJP is the only alternative to the BRS and were of the firm belief that they would get real justice only if the BJP comes to power.

“It is evident from the way the BJP’s graph is growing steadily in every election held after 2019,” he said.

KCR and Congress

The BJP chief wondered how the Congress could dream of coming to power, when it could not get deposits in any by-elections. “Out of five MLAs in the Congress, four MLAs are looking in different directions, and the remaining one MLA is at a crossroads, unable to decide where to go,” Bandi Sanjay said.

He alleged that KCR was conspiring with the Congress, the AIMIM, and a section of media to run a campaign against the BJP, stating that it had taken a back seat after the Karnataka Assembly elections.

“A section of media has begun campaigning that all those who had joined the BJP in the past are going back into the BJP,” he contended.

The BJP state president also alleged that KCR was funding the Congress party wherever the BRS is not in a position to win the Assembly elections.

“He is getting various surveys done from time to time and when he realised that he can’t come to power on his own, he supports the Congress party,” he said, adding that the BJP would contest alone and emerge victorious like a hero.

Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay said that action would be taken against those who violate discipline and added that the leaders aspiring for tickets should be among the public.
